OPTMQ quality assurance document

The Quality Assurance Document is an English translation of the second edition of the rules of practice with regard to quality in biomedical laboratories from OPTMQ. Its aim is to collect the information currently available in order to reinforce quality and safety criteria as they apply to testing conducted in biomedical laboratories. These requirements are drawn from standards enacted by bodies recognized by the scientific community on a provincial, national, and international level.

French language skills are essential for all health care professionals. Medical technologists must pass a French language exam with the Office qu茅b茅cois de la langue fran莽aise unless one of the following criteria is met, according to Article 35:

  • they have received, full time, no less than three years of secondary or post-secondary instruction provided in French or
  • they have passed the fourth- or fifth-year secondary level examinations in French as the first language or
  • from and after the school year 1985-86, they obtained a secondary school certificate in Qu茅bec

In all other cases, a person must obtain a certificate issued by the Office qu茅b茅cois de la langue fran莽aise or hold a certificate defined as equivalent by of the Government.
